April already? Time does fly (no pun intended) when you’re busy and it has been an extremely busy month for the Knight Aviation group!
Gray has been doing sterling work with the flying club and we are seeing regular attendees for the Monday general aviation training sessions and Thursday club flights. These sessions are an excellent way of developing new skills, especially for pilots new to the world of flight simulation, and refresh on the basics of general aviation when your focus has been on airliners.
We have introduced 2 new schedule options with the addition of British Airways and the Royal Air Force as airlines.
The initial British Airways schedules operate from the primary bases at Heathrow, Gatwick, and London City with aircraft options including Airbus A320 and A380, Concorde, ATR72 and BAe146. Additional schedules, to include the Boeing 747 and 757, are planned for later this year. For those who enjoy general aviation the British Airways flying club, based at Redhill, offers connecting VIP services utilising the Cessna 172 and Piper Warrior. These flights connect the 3 main London hubs and addition flights to the Isle of Wight, Northolt and Shoreham.
Royal Air Force operations focus on non-combat activities with numerous Airbus A20N flights available from RAF Brize Norton to the European bases with longer range flights becoming available with the Airbus A330 towards the end of this month. Operations from RAF Northolt, with the King Air 350i, host flights to most RAF stations in the British Isles offering a transition from VFR to IFR to those who started their career with GB Air Taxi or the flying club.
The website continues to develop with a few significant updates to the main infrastructure and ACARS system. A huge thanks to Alex needs to be made here for his work behind the scenes keeping things running smoothly. I’m sure he must feel quite exacerbated when I manage to break something.. which has happened several times in the last few months!
A new feature, for want of a better word, is the ability to purchase a share in the airline that you belong to. Details of this are available on this site under the “web tutorials” section.
Lastly, Knight Aviation is celebrating 25 years of operation this year making us one of the longest standing virtual airlines in the British Isles. We are making regular posts on our social media platforms detailing our history which can be found at:

I think that’s all for for the blog this month. I shall endeavor to be less tardy in the future although late CEO blogs have become something of a tradition!
